- Academic involvement: Minimum five (5) years’ experience post registration as specialist/sub-specialty - Registration with HPCSA as orthopaedic specialist or in orthopaedic subspecialty for a minimum 5 years - Current registration with HPCSA as orthopaedic specialist/subspecialty • Must be willing to do commuted overtime • Must be part of WITS Orthopaedic Academic • Added Advantage: registration in any orthopaedic subspecialty for minimum 3 years
• Run, supervise and offer good quality comprehensive orthopaedic service to patients. • Effectively manage administrative functions, including PMDS contracting and evaluations. • Optimally supervise, instruct and train junior personnel, including registrars, medical officers, interns as well as allied and nursing personnel. • Render outreach and support services to other levels of care in our drainage areas. • Participate in academic activities at undergraduate and postgraduate level as required, including outside the Department. • Supervise MMed projects, conduct research, and publish articles regularly. • Present papers in the South African Orthopaedic Association annual congress. • Participate in continuing medical education, as required by the Health Professions Council of South Africa. • Support and initiate research within orthopaedic department
