Q. How do I apply for GPG vacancies?
A. Please follow the instruction under the help tab on the home page to register your profile and apply for vacancies.

Q. How do I reset my password?
A.If you have forgotten your password, click login, enter your 13 digits ID number under username, click on forgot password, answer the security question and your password will be displayed in red.

If you forgot your security answer, click login, enter your 13 digits ID number under username, click on forgot password, click on EMAIL, enter your email address and your security answer will be sent to your mailbox, which you’ll use to reset your password.

Q. The system does not accept my log in details?
A. Kindly note that your username is your South African identity number you have put in during the first stage of your registration process. Put in your ID number on the username field, then your password, if you are still struggling, click reset password and follow the above instructions to reset.

Q. When applying for a vacancy, after I have clicked on the apply button, the system does not go to the next page when I click next, is there something wrong with the system?
A. There’s nothing wrong with the system, after clicking on the apply button, your profile will be populated, however make sure you have filled in all the required details on that page, for instance you need to fill in the notice period before you can click next. Once you have put in your notice period, you can proceed with your application.

Q. I want to apply for a vacancy but the submit button is deactivated
A. While on the GPG Professional Job Centre site, go to tools on the menu bar, click on “Compatibility View” from the tools menu to activate it and then the submit button should be enabled. If the Compatibility View is deactivated, go to tools, click on the compatibility view settings, a little page will pop out, put click add then close. Please send an email to e-recruitment@gauteng.gov.za with your query and contact number.

Q. I want to apply for a vacancy, what are the required documents?
A. The system requires you to scan and upload supporting documentation; they don’t have to be recently certified, as you’ll still be required to bring certified documents should you be invited for an interview. Once you have registered your profile, you can apply for any job that you are eligible for.

Q. I always apply for jobs but I never get calls for interviews?
A. Make sure that you meet all minimum requirements before you apply for a vacancy and make sure that your resume is complete, you have mentioned all your achievements,skills,experience and qualifications.

Q. How do I make follow-up on my application?
A. You can call the GPG Contact Centre on 0860 011 000, and choose Human Resources. They request your unique reference number in order to track your application.

Q. How will I know if my application has been submitted successfully?
A. Once you have submitted your application, the system automatically generates a unique reference number that you can use to make follow-up. You will also receive an email notification that your application has been received.

Q. I do not have a computer, how do I access the system to apply for jobs.
A. If you are staying in Johannesburg, visit our walk in centre at 77 Fox Street Marshalltown and If you are situated in Soweto, please visit the Thusong Service centre at Maponya mall to get assistance and apply.

Q. I’m unable to travel to the nearest service department and or internet café, how else can I access the system.
A. You can also access the GPG Professional Job Centre from your smart phone.They system is easy to use on the phone.
